New Patron Announced

Dr. Chris Steele, MBE, Becomes Patron Of Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society Europe.

TV Doctor and freelance physician, Dr Chris Steele has become the patron of The Chromosome 18 Registry And Research Society Europe.  His two year old great nephew, George Donlan, is affected by Ring 18.

“Awareness needs to be raised of this fantastic organisation which supports George and many other families who cope with the daily struggles of trying to receive advice and support to help their children.
Funds are vital to hold the important annual conference in which doctors, researchers and therapists meet with parents and their affected children to share any new knowledge, research information, stories and experiences.
The main research centre is in San Antonio, Texas, and the researchers and doctors working there come to our conferences and present on the latest research findings.”
said Georges mum, Cheryl.

Dr. Steele’s patronage of the charity was announced at a recent fundraising event in Manchester.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Steele on board as he will hopefully help us raise the awareness we need to be noticed as a fantastic and worthwhile charity supporting, and supported by, very committed people”, explained Cheryl.

Dr. Steele told us,
“It is a great honour for me to become a Patron of the charity for the very rare Chromosome 18 disorders.  Not only because my gorgeous little great nephew, George Donlan, has this unusual disorder but also because I can create more publicity and greater awareness of these very rare conditions.

Big charities get the money, whilst small charities battle continuously to raise even small amounts.  I aim to help the charity, little George and all other people affected by Chromosome 18 abnormalities.”
