Well guys, it’s that time of year when I start thinking about fundraising!!  Truth be known I’ve normally got an events date set by now but this year I’ve had people approach me. Firstly to ask what crazy event do I have planned for this year, and secondly people have approached me with their own plans of what they are doing for fundraising!!!

This weekend I attended a waxathon at the Brown Cow, Eccles. This event was organised by a young man called Anthony Hilton, he and his team mates all got together to arrange the evening and entertainments which was great fun. Men being waxed, wit woo!!, children in fancy dress, face painting, raffle  buffet and Disco, all in all a good night had by all.

The next event is a 60th Birthday party, which I shall be attending also. A very kind lovely lady called Diane Cathcart has asked all her family and friends not to buy birthday presents but to kindly donate to Chromosome 18 Registry Europe. This is such a lovely idea and touched our hearts when Diane asked if she was able to do this.

Another fundraising day will be on Sunday 28th April 2013 when the Manchester Marathon will take place; Ben Potts is running this on behalf of Chromosome 18 Registry Europe and Gorgeous George. Benn is currently training 4 days a week running up to 15 miles to get him in shape for this torturous event.  Also his gorgeous wife is expecting their first baby any day, so it will be really hard for Ben to keep up with all the extra training. I’ve asked Ben why choose our charity? And basically he wants to make a difference!!!!  So I will also be there on the day encouraging Ben and our very own Mark Kirkham to the finishing line…….

The events keep coming in, there are a few in the pipeline and here’s one I think might get bigger each year…….The Snowdon Climb!!! But this year it is being held on Fri 14th June 2013. Why?? Because a young gentleman called Adam Wilson has decided he would like to take the challenge to climb Snowdon. Adam is a lovely young man who is part of our Chromosome 18 family, Adam has 18q- !! So with this is mind I thought it would be ace if we could all join him and climb that very tough mountain with him…… I also think Adam is amazing for choosing this event and taking it upon himself to commit to such a challenge!! ……….Watch this space for any updates on the Snowdon Climb!!!!
